When is the best time to go to Vendée?

Summer in Vendée

The Vendée coast benefits from very pleasant temperatures in summer ranging from 20 to 30°C (86°F) .

Temperatures are often higher inland, especially towards the Marais Poitevin, where the weather is similar to that of neighboring Aquitaine.

On the coast, the weather is mostly sunny and relatively dry from June to September. However, it is not uncommon to see thunderstorms in the southern part of the department, especially in the evening.

Moreover, sunshine is particularly abundant during this season, especially in the western part of the department towards Les Sables-d'Olonne.

Winter in Vendée

In winter, the Vendée coast is particularly dry. Cities like Noirmoutier or Les Sables-d'Olonne receive less precipitation than inland areas. Generally, temperatures are mild, averaging between 5 and 10°C (50°F) .

However, inland, the climate is harsher. It is not uncommon to see frost in a city like La Roche-sur-Yon in winter. Despite this, this is not the place to go if you want to see white landscapes. Vendée has one of the lowest snowfall rates in all of France.

Autumn in Vendée
