Best time to go to the Languedoc for a perfect weather and where to go?
When is the best time to go to the Languedoc?
Although pleasant all year round, the best time to visit the Languedoc-Roussillon Mediterranean coast extends from April to the end of October. Enjoy the omnipresent sun to make the most of this beautiful region by the Mediterranean Sea!
When to visit Languedoc-Roussillon based on your interests?
- For swimming and lounging on the beach, the best season is summer, between July and late September. The water temperature is then ideal, with averages ranging from 21 to 22°C (72°F) .
- For hiking, it is best to avoid the peak heat of July and August, as the region offers little shade. For perfect weather conditions and comfortable walking, opt for the shoulder seasons: May and June, as well as September and October.
- For visiting without the tourist crowds or for a city break in Montpellier, Nîmes, or Perpignan, it is better not to travel in July and August, which coincide with the high season in Languedoc-Roussillon. For optimal conditions while enjoying tranquility, prefer the shoulder seasons: May-June and September-October.
- For canal boating on the Canal du Midi, the ideal period is from May to October, when rainfall is at its lowest and the sun and warmth are abundant.
- For a themed stay exploring the vineyards, go whenever you like! Local wine producers will always be delighted to welcome you to share their passion and let you taste their excellent wines. But if you want to wander through vineyards with enchanting colors, autumn is a prime season.
